Why Couples in Glenwood Springs Choose Firefly
Glenwood Springs sits at the junction of the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers — one of the most dramatic settings in the state. From the historic grandeur of Hotel Colorado to the modern riverside elegance of Glenwood Canyon Resort, this market attracts couples who want something spectacular.
Glenwood Springs sits where the Roaring Fork meets the Colorado, in narrow valleys steep on every side, with Glenwood Canyon opening immediately east of town. Unusually for a Colorado mountain town there is no mining past here — it sits outside the Colorado Mineral Belt and was a spa town from the start. The resort pool dates to 1888 and still runs at 90–93°F off a spring producing three and a half million gallons a day at 122°F. Doc Holliday died in this town in November 1887, and to this day nobody knows exactly where he is buried.
We have worked Hotel Colorado and Glenwood Canyon Resort, which are about as different as two rooms in one town can be. One is a historic hotel with hard surfaces, long reverberation and neighbours to think about; the other is open air by the river, where sound disappears upward unless you plan for it. We approach them differently, and that is the point of having played both. Nathan runs ceremony audio, the microphone and the music through to the last dance; Kyann runs the open-air photo booth.
